About the Department

Philosophy department is the most prestigious department of the college. The department was established in 1984 and founder faculty is Dr. S. P. Pandey. In this subject P.G. course started in 2018. Value added course has been running since 2015. A Philosophy Council has been formed in the philosophy department. All the faculty members are actively contributing as members of different academic and administrative committee of the College.

Academic Activities

In the span of three years at the undergraduate level papers that the

faculty members teaches are:- Ethics, Indian Philosophy, New Western Philosophy, Logic, Western Epistemology, Philosophy and

Religion, Social Political Philosophy. In the 21st century philosophy is extremely important as it makes them realize universal values, peace and happiness. The entire research information and technology is based on the study of Logic. Logic grooms students with reasoning ability and social relation. Concepts like Justice, Equality, Freedom, Sovereignty which helps students to realize their political duty. Philosophy is quite useful for various competitive examinations. It creates objectivity and makes student analytical.

At the post graduate level the sub-branches of philosophy that the faculty members teaches are :- Classical Indian Philosophy, Classical Western Philosophy, Modern Western Philosophy, Advanced and Normative Ethics, Analytical Philosophy, Contemporary Indian Philosophy, Ordinary Language Philosophy, Professional Ethics, Symbolic Logic. It engages students with a detailed study of epistemology and metaphysics. It gives a critical account of various orthodox systems of classical Indian Philosophy. Various thinkers like Kant, Hegel, Fichte are taught and the significance of their philosophy in the contemporary times.

The department takes care to undertake innovative activities in teaching and learning throughout the year for the overall development of our students. For this we have evolved some practices which contribute towards empowering our students with life skills for their future.
All the teachers of the department take ICT enabled classes.
The teachers also provide free books to the needy students.
The department has also constituted financial awards for the topper students of both U.G. and P.G. final year examination.
